Kalkaska Village officials announced that Kalkaska is drawing even closer to realizing the Kalkaska Connects project – a shared vision of the Kalkaska Village Council and the Kalkaska Downtown Development Authority.
Kalkaska Connects is the development of a much more inviting presence to the village with a plan to redevelop property in the 300 block on the east side of Cedar Street.
Copies of a Main Street Renaissance booklet were passed around for attendees to examine, a publication which Village Council President Jeff Sieting said contains “big news, big dreams, big plans.”
“We call it the ‘Inspiration Book,'” Hill said.
It is a tool for attracting businesses, with hopes of bringing to the village a brewpub, cinema, retail stores, and housing. Hill said she thinks interested businesses are waiting to see if the village secures the Erb property before pursuing the opportunity.
