Prince’s Arts & Crafts House; The Ideal Home Show. Learning from London

The Ideal Home Show is finished, and I think the Prince’s Arts & Crafts House was a success. I think people are starting to understand the message that homes can be both ‘low-carbon’ and ‘beautiful’. That the two are not mutually exclusive.

This year’s house features many crafted elements. In the original Arts & Crafts movement, it was clear that pattern and craft were prominent themes, especially in creating human-scaled spaces like reading nooks and window seats. It is hard to underestimate how important these types of things are in making houses feel like homes. And importantly in our house, all of these craft elements are from British suppliers, designers and materials.
